We love what we do.
From tree to slab or log. Taking your new raw timber through its drying process so that you can turn it into a fabulous piece of furniture gives the ultimate feeling of accomplishment. Then to see the clients’ face light up on its first view provides the drive to do it all over again.
With nearly four decades of experience in the construction industry, I have honed my skills and developed a deep passion for craftsmanship. My journey has been rooted in building homes—playing a pivotal role in the construction of more than 4,000 houses in Southern California, Arizona & Nevada—where I prioritized quality, attention to detail, and creating spaces where families can thrive. Over the years, I have mastered the art of working with my hands, transforming raw materials into lasting structures and now, into beautiful, custom wood creations.
Today, my focus has shifted toward crafting bespoke wood products that blend functionality with artistry. From serving trays and cutting boards to intricate wooden carvings, wall art, and custom furniture, I bring the same dedication and precision to every piece. I am also passionate about collaborating with customers on commissioned projects, turning their unique visions into tangible works of art. Dining Tables are most special. It’s where the family gathers, enjoy each other’s company all while strengthening the family unit.
Whether it’s a functional everyday item or a statement piece, I strive to create products that are as personal as they are enduring and where there is never an identical item.
In the not so distant future, the plan is to be a participant in some of Kauai’s local Craft Fairs and bring an assortment of handcrafted furnishings, other souvenirs & gifts. With some luck it will allow a few more people to enjoy the results of some of my ideas.

My name is Chris Wright. I am founder of wood crafting studio - Pacific Island Woodcraft.

Every piece of lumber, we respect; What type of tree, where it was growing, how long it took to get to size and the life it saw.
Once harvested, it now gains a totally new life.
2. TROPICAL WOOD
Maximizing use of all pieces limiting scrap in layout. Sourcing tropical wood pieces for projects that maximize usability. I work with Coco Bolo, Fig, Mango, Monkeypod, Mahogany, Padauk, Purple Heart, Red Heart, Sapele, Teak, Zebrawood along with domestics like Walnut, Maple, Cypress.
